Noëmie Mermet-Joret, PhD

The brain is a vast world by itself: it is incredibly powerful when it functions properly, and can behave in a mysterious way when it fails to do so. Being interested in a broad range of questions, I started my career as a neuroscientist (precisely as an in-vitro electrophysiologist) by studying pathologies like epilepsy, memory deficits after traumatic brain injury, anxiety and pain. I dug into the postnatal development of the brain during my PhD (in Prof. Dallel’s lab, Clermont-Ferrand, France) and since I joined Sadegh Nabavi’s lab, I am combining different approaches to understand how fears are processed within the amygdala. My aim is to understand the brain as an all and to decorticate the circuits underlying specific behaviors.
